Baptisms in Corfu
Recently Revd Jules Wilson baptised two members of the Holy Trinity Corfu family in the sea.
Here follow some words from the candidates, Hanne and Iisa:
I live in the north of Norway, and I've been several months at Corfu visiting my dear friend and working companion Iisa. She introduced me to your church and I just love your community.
I stand here today with a heart full of gratitude. Growing up without faith, I never imagined this moment. But through my spiritual journey, I’ve found my way to God, not through the rules of religion, but through a personal relationship. It feels like a gift to be baptized in the sea here on Corfu, alongside Iisa, who has been such an important mentor and friend on this path.
I am deeply thankful for Jules, this church, and the entire community, for welcoming me with open arms. Being a part of this feels like a blessing. Jules, thank you for taking the time to teach me and guide me in this journey of faith. This baptism marks a new chapter in my life, filled with faith, love, and freedom. Thank you all for being part of this special day.
This is only the beginning for me. Thank you, Amen.
Love, Hanne
Early one Friday this summer, I arrived in Corfu with a one-way ticket and a suitcase. God had guided me to come to the international church.
There, I experienced others praying for me, and I had the opportunity to pray for others. It was a powerful experience, and I felt the old life beginning to let go. Jules has been an in-credible support during this time, as well as many others in the church whom I have now gotten to know. I have been thinking about being baptized in the sea for two years, and now it felt natural to do so together with the congregation here and my dear friend and sister Hanne.
The old life is over, and I am ready to serve God here in Corfu and at HTC. My gratitude is immense that God sent me here.
Thank you to everyone at HTC who has made me feel like part of the family here. I am home. God bless you all.
With love, Iisa
