Children’s and Youth Co-ordinator

Part Time (40%) or 4 half days including evenings and weekends.

All Saints’ Anglican Chaplaincy is an English language church in Vevey, Switzerland. It is a community that loves Jesus, made up of people of all ages from many nationalities and denominations.   We are part of the Church of England’s Diocese in Europe and work in partnership with the Intercontinental Church Society.

We are praying for the appointment of the right person to oversee our children and youth ministry.

Role Description You will be at the heart of a lively, loving and joyful church as we share the good news of Jesus amongst the english-speaking community in our part of Switzerland. You will oversee our Children’s and Youth ministry in collaboration with the Chaplain and the leadership of the church, train and coordinate leaders and volunteers to deliver excellent Christian youth and children’s ministry and help our children and youth play a full part in the life of the church.

We will be looking for evidence of the following abilities.

• Experience in youth and children’s ministry, and proven ability to relate and teach Christian faith effectively amongst Children and young people.

• Excellent organisational skills and experience in managing volunteers and teaching programmes, liaising with Parents and the wider church.

• Excellence in communication both written and spoken English. French language ability will be an advantage.

• A mature Christian faith, pastoral sensitivity and wisdom.

Duties, hours and tasks. There will be some flexibility required on both sides with a part time position but key elements will include;

1. Co-ordinate the volunteer leaders of Climbers & Explorers (4 to 11 years) and guide and develop the curriculum for the Sunday sessions and training of volunteers.

2. Support our monthly All Age services in co-ordination with the Chaplain

3. Lead, co-ordinate and participate in other initiatives throughout the year such as the annual Nativity, Easter Bible Club etc.

4.  Co-ordinate and lead the key elements of All Saints Youth Ministry together with a team of volunteers, including;
   a. Core Juniors and Core Seniors, the Sunday morning programme for 12 to 18 year olds
   b. Place2Be, a weekly Friday evening youth social event.
   c. Annual Youth Weekend Away

5. Pastoring and mentoring young people. Although the role is primarily one of supporting and equipping a team of volunteers, it is natural that the Children’s and Youth Co-ordinator will be approached by our young people and their parents for pastoral support.
