Time to Reflect
Whilst you visit this church, please take a few moments to be quiet, reflect upon some verses from the Bible, and use some or all of the prayers found here.
I lift up my eyes to the hills – from where will my help come?
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
(Psalm 121: 1-2)
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars that you have established;
what are human beings that you are mindful of them,
mortals that you care for them.
(Psalm 8: 3-4)
The prayer that Jesus taught his friends (The Lord's Prayer)
Our Father in Heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever. Amen.
Prayer by Cicely Williams – author of “A Church in the Alps”
O Lord our Heavenly Father, send down Your blessing upon this house among the mountains. Here may the weary find rest, and the tempted find power. May the doubtful find faith, and the lonely find friends; may the fearful find courage, and the sinful find God. May Your great light shine and Your people be lifted up in worship to the gates of Heaven; until in Your presence we find the fulness of joy and life everlasting; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The ICS Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, you called your disciples into your service and sent them to take the good news of the Gospel to their own people and to the whole world. Give your grace and power, we pray, to all who go through ICS to minister to English-speaking people world-wide. Grant to them a vision of the task so that, through their ministry, many may come to a knowledge of your glorious salvation and be established in the fellowship of your church. To the glory of your holy name. Amen.
