ICS is an international
Church of England mission agency: we
make known the good news of Jesus Christ to people who speak English,
who find themselves living, studying, working or holidaying away from
home in countries where English is not the main language. In
continental Europe ICS's ministry also touches the lives of increasing
numbers of Europeans who speak English. We are also an Anglican
patronage society, recruiting ministers to serve in many of the international
Anglican churches we partner, and whose buildings we often own. We work
mainly in continental Europe and around the Mediterranean and are funded
entirely by donations from individuals, churches and trusts that share
our aims. Information
about projects we support, papers and mission-related topics can be found
at here.
If you have any questions or for information about local
supporters/prayer meetings call the ICS office, or if you would like
someone to speak at your church or group about ICS why not invite your
area representative? Click on Contacting ICS for details.

Moving abroad? Going on holiday?
Let us help you find a
church where you can worship in English. First check our Find a church pages which list international
Anglican churches linked to ICS and our seasonal chaplaincy programme. There
are also links to other sites such as those of Anglican dioceses listing other
international churches. Just click on Churches
Abroad.
Secondly to help you find English-speaking churches
abroad you can order our unique Directory on line or by calling us - click on the advert to
the left for more information. Wherever you go, we hope that you will journey
safely.
Thirdly, every summer ICS provides English-language
church services in holiday resorts across Europe at the
historic English church in Zermatt (see below) through to the holiday island
of Ibiza: chaplains in these resorts are there to help in time of need, and
talk about life and the Christian faith with holidaymakers, resort workers and
(in Kandersteg, Switzerland) scouts and their leaders who are using the
International Scout Centre. To learn more click here for our Friend of the
seasonal outreach leaflet which explains where we will be providing
chaplaincies, and how you can pray for and support this outreach, which (like
all of ICS's work) depends entirely on donations to enable it.
Alternatively click here to donate now and select
'seasonal outreach' as the project you want to support.
Make sure you worship God whilst on
holiday! Go along to a service to find a warm welcome, friendship,
and be encouraged in the Christian faith.

St.
Peter's, Zermatt: 140th Anniversary Appeal -
£70,000 needed
Since 29 June 1870, ICS has welcomed visitors and
worshippers to this chapel high in the Swiss Alps. Nicknamed 'The English
Church' and 'The parish church of the Alpine Club', countless people
(climbers, skiers, those touring, snowboarders, walkers, and local people - to
name but a few) have enjoyed its peace and tranquillity, worshipped God and
found faith in Christ or been encouraged through the ministry of its volunteer
chaplains (each summer and winter). ICS built, owns, maintains and staffs St.
Peter's. For information about its
140 years of public ministry
click here or call us for a
Zermatt 140th brochure (which contains a brief history and information
about the Anniversary Appeal - £70,000 is needed for essential repairs and
improvements to the lighting, heating and wiring: you may also
donate on line). To order a copy of the official history, A
Church in the Alps, see publications or call the ICS
office on 024 7646 3940 (international: +44 24 7646 3940). For 140th Anniversary press releases and images of
St. Peter's go to http://www.ics-uk.org/churches/Switzerland_Zermatt.shtml
We held two events in 2010 to
mark the 140th anniversary: click for a copy of the
sermon preached by
Alan Strange on Monday 14 June at the UK Thanksgiving
Service, or here for a copy of the sermon
preached by David Healey at the Zermatt Thanksgiving Service on Sunday 11
July. For a brief history of St. Peter's given in
the church on 10 July click here
