Aquitaine’s Annual WorshipFest

This year’s rousing Worshipfest returned to Berbigueires on 30 September, as indeed did drummer Tony Fuller who travelled all the way from southern Spain to complete the band!

The theme was ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ and, lest we forget it, the presenters wore T-shirts with this displayed in vivid green with a crucifix. It did look ever so slightly like a heavy metal band logo but the message was not ‘Born To Be Wild’ but that the kingdom of God is within you from the moment you become a Christian. Unfortunately, the weather was against us at the start with an epic downpour threatening to soak everyone on arrival. Coffee and croissants restored the faithful and we started the first of three units of eight songs with a presentation in the middle.

The speakers were Revd Tony Lomas, Revd Angela Marshall and then her other half Revd ‘Dave the electric’, a title bestowed upon him not specifically about his preaching style but because he was playing an electric guitar, to differentiate him from ‘Dave the sound’ who was running the PA and ‘Dave the acoustic’, who was playing a 12 string guitar!

A substantial bring and share lunch preceded Angela’s ‘Worship, Witness and Will’, by which time the weather had brightened up and we could enjoy the sunshine and each other’s company. The congregation were generally in good voice, though louder on the more familiar songs, but as one of the purposes of the event was to introduce new songs there were occasional moments when we relied on Dave and Jan Wilton’s singing to guide us through!

A lovely day of celebration in words and music!
