Back into the fold

One of the privileges of being around for a while concerns the links (and not the internet sort!) which one develops over the years. The chaplaincy of Aquitaine, in Southwest France, has had the sheer privilege of being tightly ‘connected’ with ICS (the Intercontinental Church Society), its patron, for many a year and for that we give great thanks.

Being a Chaplaincy Warden is not always an easy job, but the longterm fulfillment and the ensuing friendships are precious. So I was glad that recently, I was back in touch with the Revd Canon John Moore, who was the International Director of ICS way back in the late 1990s when I was Chaplaincy Warden in Aquitaine.

In addition to working with new chaplains, John oversaw the creation of the Chaplaincy of Poitou-Charentes, which stemmed from the initial chaplaincy of Aquitaine church group in Cognac. A bit of gentle persuasion and he who gave a great deal of time to many chaplaincies in his past role, was able to come back to Bordeaux for a holiday, after many years with his daughter Val.

‘We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.’ Romans 8:28

God’s family is a wonderful family indeed! Thanks be to Him.
